haha...No, unfortunately he (or she) is about 20 times bigger than the Leprechaun and he certainly doesnt carry a pot of gold with him...But he's supposed to be big and ugly but kind

He is predominantly red as opposed to the Leprechaun green too. Does the Leprechaun have a pot of gold with him then traditionally...?

Yes indeed if you catch a Leprechaun he is obliged to give you a pot of gold which is always hidden at the end of a rainbow!
I have seen pics of this Troll before and I have even heard of Lillehammer ....

Re:
205/55 R 16 is a rather normal tire size for the Passat here in Norway. I think that would work, but i would not go for anything wider. As far as I know, 195/60 R 16 is not a factory option for this model, but I guess it could be a good alternative. 195/65 R 15 is usually a good choice for the Passat, but it might not fit this car. The brakes on the 130tdi 4Motion may be a bit too big. Check before you buy..syncropaddy wrote: I can source 195/60/16 Blizzak LM25 tyres here in Ireland.
I don't know the Blizzak tyres, but I don't think the LM-25 is the best choice. I would generally avoid the "Central European" winter tyres such as Michelin Alpin or ContiWinterContact TS810. The "Scandinavian" tires like the Michelin X-Ice or ContiVikingContact 5 are far better for Norwegian winter conditions. I think the right choice from Bridgestone would be the Blizzak Nordic. There is really a significant difference in the way these two kinds of tyres perform in tough winter conditions!
The 130tdi needs special oil that complies with VW-norm 507.00, and i do not think there is a lot of viscosities to chose from. As far as i know this oil is usually 5W 30, and that should not be a problem in the Norwegian winter.syncropaddy wrote: 1. What oil should he use? 0W 40 maybe?
2. What about turning off the engine? Should he fit a heater of some kind?
I would not be afraid to turn off the engine. And I really do not see any reason to fit an engine heater just for this trip. Just make sure the battery is in good condition. I do not know if the cars made for Ireland are fitted with a smaller battery than in Norway. Maybe it's a good idea to install a new battery anyway, end to get the largest that can be fitted to the car?

Re: Hello from Ireland - I need your help!
Thanks Henrik
I was hoping not to have to fit an engine heater!! We will fit a new battery with the best output before the trip and place the old one in the boot to use in emergencies. I will try and source the Nordic tyres that you suggest here in Ireland but if that fails he can buy them in Sweden on his way up.

I have Vredestien Snowtrac2 listed in 205/55R16 if needed, nothing in 195 though.

I dont think he is driving through the UK Simon. Its cheaper to go directly to France and it also avoids my Sterling kitty being plundered!!
