Raising a syncro multivan?

Post by Stuck In Norway »

Hi Before I sell my t3 syncro and Buy a multivan syncro can they be raised??
I want to drive it off road .. Ie.. the cabin dirt tracks on heavy snow,
do they have the height and off road capabilities of the t3? Or should I stick with the tried and tested.. do artic trucks do a syncro???

You can raise it up to 75 mm and it's with full documentation from TÜV.
But it will be rather expensive.
You'll need this (and more):
-the main raising kit (special made Bilstein shocks and Eibach springs), and all necessary brackets and so on
-a calibration of the speedometer (this must be done at the factory in Germany)
-4 new tyres 245/75 R16
-4 new steel wheels 7J X 16 H2
-modification of the axels(both front and rear) because of the new angles between the shafts and the differentials (will normally be done at the factory in Germany)

The Multivan and the Caravelle has softer (more comfortable) suspension than the Transporter, where heavier load is the main thing.
So a kit that is promising about 30 mm will raise the Multivan about 40-45 mm depending on how much load you carry and how much the original soft springs allready are compressed. :D

At my job we raised a short Multivan 4Motion ambulance with the 30 mm kit, and was surprised to measure almost 50 mm because the original springs was so compressed before we started.
It was quite high afterwards. 8)

The 30 mm kit is normally in stock in Trondheim.
